I don't know why everyone raves about this place so much. It's crowded and loud. The waitress mostly ignored us and forgot part of our order and we had to flag someone down for our check. Plus, the pizza was nothing special.
I have been going here for Decorah's best pizza all my life since i was a little boy. Here i am, bringing my wife and kids and is still just as good if not better. The pizza is amazing and the service is great. We go to Mabes with my parents every time we come home to see family or for Holidays, but now it is my treat to them.
This is like Decorah's best kept not-so-secret. They serve up great food and the staff is always nice! The restaurant is small, so you'll feel a little crammed in during busy hours but it's so worth it!
The pizza was amazing! The server didn't seem to like his job much, thus the 4 stars. Pizza is well worth the drive.
I've been here several times and I don't see what all the excitement is about. Mabe's pizza is composed of a thin, cracker-like crust, sparsely covered with ingredients. The restaurant seems understaffed. The staff they do have are either in a mad rush or rude. Their "Around The Garden" pizza was pretty good. I would recommend going if you're in the immediate area.
